Amanda Cooper

BIO

I was born and raised in Colorado, but spent most of my twenties in Southern California where I met my husband Ryan working at a Chart House restaurant in San Diego. In 2010 we relocated back to Denver and in 2016 we took a leap of faith and relocated to Georgetown to open our own restaurant, Cooper’s on the Creek. Having spent our entire lives running and operating restaurants for other people we were thrilled for the chance to take on a project that we be totally ours! We’re the proud parents of two boys, Nolan and Connor and love living in Georgetown.

Why did I choose Georgetown Community School?

When considering if we could actually relocate, Ryan and I knew that we needed a foundation for our kids that would set them up for success. When we toured GCS I was pregnant with our youngest and we were immediately impressed by the warmth of the staff as well as the class sizes and the fact it was a charter. We wanted a place that would nurture and grow with our kids as we transitioned from raising them in a big urban area and we knew immediately that GCS could be that place for us.

If the Students could learn one thing, what would it be?

That anything is possible through hard work and dedication. Things that are worth it are not always easy, but if you don't try you'll never know what could have been.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up, and why?

An archaeologist! I love studying history and learning about the past and still have a great passion for it.
