Why did I choose Georgetown Community School?

GCS was an easy choice for us. We loved the fact that there was an ELC. My eldest son Seth started at GCS at 2 1/2 and is now in 3rd Grade. I loved the idea that my child could begin to foster lifelong friendships from such a young age, begin to recognize familiar faces of classmates family, faculty, and staff and grow within a sense of community integrating a sense of security . Moreover, the education element that the ELC brings in contrast to a traditional day care facility gives my child the best opportunity grow not just socially and emotionally, but rather sets a groundwork to love learning and teaches that learning can be fun!

If the Students could learn one thing, what would it be?

If I could teach only 1 thing, that would be the importance of kindness. It is something I strive for in my own life, it is a skill that is learned and can be difficult to express at times. The idea that empathy and seeing someone else’s perspective is often overshadowed by selfishness and it is so easy judge what we don’t understand. However, something as simple as a friendly smile can change a person’s day. There is nothing more important than that.
