Dear GCS Families,

Can you believe that we are nearly at the time for Spring Break?  We will enjoy a bit of time to rest and re-charge.  Spring Break is the week of March 25th – 29th.  Then, it is back to school to finish the 2018-2019 school year. We have so much to do, and as always, your involvement is needed.  I encourage you to take this time to celebrate your student’s successes and reinforce their plans for a strong end to this school year.

Thank you to the families that attended our recent school activities, has volunteered in the classrooms, and have supported your student at home.  I believe it is vital that your students see you involved.  This cements their belief that their education is important.  The staff and PTO are continuing to work at providing opportunities for you to join us at events, both during and after school.  I sincerely thank you for taking time to be involved and present in your child’s education.  This is a team effort, and you are an important member of the team.

As we work our way to the end of this school year, we once again will be involved in testing and assessing your student’s academic growth.  Students have been working diligently to obtain knowledge this year.  Much of the future in measuring in student growth will take place on computers.  You can help your student make the most of testing by asking questions about their studies, setting earlier bedtimes during testing dates, and encouraging plenty of fresh air and exercise.  As we turn more to technology, it is paramount that children have time to explore and play outside, to exercise their bodies, and to learn to solve real world problems.  Limiting video game and TV time is also a great help to a “testing frame of mind”.  Testing dates will be communicated by your student’s teacher as we approach them.  I extend my thanks in advance for the help you can give us.

Georgetown Community School has much to be proud of.  Our staff is dedicated to maximizing the academic success and personal growth of each of our students, and I am confident that we have the right people, resources, and tenacity to continue to do just that.  Please always feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, and ideas.

I look forward to a fantastic fourth quarter at GCS!
